Because of the higher precision and standardisation that can be achieved offsite, installation on site is easier, quicker and requires less manual labour, resulting in time and cost savings and better schedule certainty. In turn, quality, reliability and safety are enhanced while productivity on site is considerably improved. The main benefit of prefabrication is mass customisation, which enables a more efficient, manufacturing-style approach to the construction process. For example, precast is a form of prefabrication as precast concrete elements such as slabs, walls, beams or stairs are cast in a factory and then transported to the construction site for installation. This means that the elements are constructed offsite in a factory-style setting, before being transported to site and connected to other building components. A large portion of the buildings are being erected using prefabricated elements. New buildings with a planned gross floor area of more than 2.6m sq m will be built by 2030, comprising a total investment volume of around ВЈ4.28bn.

Electricity is generated by a photovoltaic system on the roof. In order to avoid overheating in the summer, a night ventilation system is used for cooling. The students have their own lounges, so called вЂњHome basesвЂќ, which serve as study areas as well as Chill-out areas and social meeting space. While the junior classes are taught in clusters, the senior classes are organized according to the department system. Modern room concept allows different teaching approaches.

As a contrast all the classrooms are located along the outer faГ§ade with horizontal windows to create quiet atmosphere. All the communication areas are situated around the courtyard with room-high windows. The new transparent main entrance in the historical faГ§ade invites the view into the green courtyard. The courtyard offers various seating areas for relaxing and learning outside the classrooms. Half of the main building was demolished and extended with a terraced building around a central courtyard. A former military barrack was converted into a modern high school.
